I would like to personally welcome you all to our Academy website and introduce myself to you.
I am Corinna Wright and I am the Executive Principal for the Beacon Primary Academy. I oversee the work of the Academy, alongside the Head of School, Lisa Wright. We work very closely to ensure the best possible provision for our pupils.
The ‘Beacon Team’ and the Greenwood Academies Trust work together to cater for all of our children’s needs, emotionally, socially and academically.
I hope that you find all of the information that you require on this website and that it provides you with a feel for what we believe in and how we will support your child through their learning adventure.
Our Academy opened in September 2014. Our staff team have established an excellent learning environment, clear routines and very high expectations for our children. Our parents are committed to supporting us in achieving the best for their children and speak highly of the work that we do. We encourage parents and the wider community to work closely with us and regularly have visits within our local area that provide excellent learning opportunities for our children. These ‘real’ experiences are ones that they remember and that they will talk about for many years to come.
Our Academy has fantastic facilities, an outstanding teaching and learning team and most importantly, strong values. Being respectful, polite and fair are essential attributes for all children and adults to enable them to achieve their full potential. These values are very important to me.
We will ensure that you, our parents, are well informed, staff are clear about their roles and that our children can learn in a safe, stimulating and creative environment that supports their individual needs.
The Academy curriculum will focus on three key areas:
- It will develop children emotionally and socially – to ensure children are well rounded individuals.
- It will focus on the development of life skills – important in our everyday lives.
- It will focus on acquiring knowledge and developing the skills to apply this in a range of contexts – preparing them academically for their secondary school and beyond.
A combination of these key curriculum areas will ensure that our children are successful in their future lives.
If you would like your child to be a part of this Academy, please be prepared to be involved in their learning journey every step of the way. It is an exciting adventure for you and your child to experience together.
Mrs Corinna Wright
